Welcome to the Fluid Dynamics Laboratory, where we innovate cutting-edge flow diagnostic technologies to tackle challenges in mechanical, aerospace, marine, and civil engineering. By combining advanced flow imaging techniques with micro- and nano-fabrication, we push the boundaries of experimental fluid mechanics. Our research spans incompressible and compressible flows, with applications in turbulent flows, drag reduction, flow control, and fluid-structure interactions, driving progress across diverse engineering fields.

Program Investigator

Shabnam Mohammadshahi, Ph.D.

Dr. Shabnam Mohammadshahi is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at New Mexico State University. She holds dual Ph.D. degrees—one in Engineering and Applied Science from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth (2024) and another in Mechanical Engineering from Pusan National University (2022). She also earned both her M.Sc. (2017) and B.Sc. (2014) in Mechanical Engineering from Isfahan University of Technology. In 2024, Dr. Mohammadshahi founded the Fluid Dynamics Laboratory at NMSU, advancing research in experimental fluid mechanics and flow diagnostics.
